Slow Burn(er) was the first track penned for the project, making it the obvious choice for EP opener. It was inspired by a vast array of artists, including Pink Floyd and Massive Attack. The song starts with a drum loop and gradually builds into a really emotive piece of music.
lyrics
Am I really to blame?
This flame burns inside of me
I’ve got nothing to gain
From telling the truth
Now there’s something to lose
So I’m moving on with my life
Cause I was right all along
It’s a slow burn
That’s what I’m running from
Yes, it’s a slow burn
That’s what I’m running from today
I can’t keep this hidden away…
Slow burner
Slow burner
Slow burn away
Slow burner
Slow burner
You’re here to stay
Do you really believe-
That did your best for me, with your love?
You were blinded by greed
And keeping control
(That’s not love)
All you’ve given to me
Is an empty hole in my life
I’m scared of what I’ll become
It’s a slow burn
That’s where I’m coming from
It’s a slow burn
Yeah, that’s where I’m coming from today
You can’t keep me hidden away…
Slow burner
Slow burner
Slow burn away
Slow burner
Slow burner
You’re here to stay
But there’s hope
And it hides under every horizon
For a soul-
That you’re no longer keeping your eyes on
(Don’t you know?)
If you can hear me-
Do you still think that you were the wise ones?
(Don’t you know?)
If you can hear me-
Then set me free…
Slow burner
Slow burner
Slow burn away
Now it’s time to reflect
On what lies ahead for me
All those things that you said
Were bending the truth
And I’m done
It’s a slow burn
